Successful people do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do. Don’t wish it were easier; wish you were better. –Jim Rohn
What are you willing to do, that others won’t?
Once I was talking with a colleague and he was commenting on how much money a person running a bulldozer makes. He thought it was unfair compared to people who hold a four year college degree and did not make as much as a heavy equipment operator. I asked him if he wanted to run a bulldozer all day long no matter the weather or conditions. He replied, “no, I would not want to do that”. Point taken.
Others lament the large salaries of NFL football players. The chance of making it to the NFL is like winning the lottery. Phenomenal players that make the cut are willing to do what others are not willing to do. Here are the statistics, “There are 1,093,234 high school football players in the United States, and 6.5% of those high school players (or 71,060) will play for the NCAA in college. The drop-off from college to the professional level is more dramatic: only 1.6% of college-level players will get drafted into the NFL.” (NCAA.org) This is why the NFL players can demand such high wages. The competition is fierce and they are the cream of the crop. Few people have the self-discipline to make it to the pro-athlete level. Even less are willing and have the talent to do what they do day in and day out.
Successful people and Athletes are successful because they continually try to better themselves
The 2022 Winter Olympics featured stories of successful Olympic athletes. Each athletes’ story had a theme. The athletes do not take the easy way out, they never give up, they set goals, and are continually improving. Imagine giving up years of your life for training, moving to another state to train with people and coaches you don’t know. The investment in time and capital required take a toll, but they keep going. Furthermore, when you hear their stories, how hard they worked, how much they gave up, it is inspirational.
When you start a business, you are doing something other people won’t do.
Thousands of articles and books have been written on how to be successful, Brian Tracey provides, 7 Habits of the Most Successful People.
The seven habits of successful people according to Tracey follow:
- goal oriented

- self-disciplined (Brian Tracey International)
Successful franchisees follow the 7 traits of successful people
In addition, there are numerous stories of successful franchisees that follow these principles. To be successful in business, you must be willing to sacrifice your time and to go the extra mile. You must be willing to learn new things and continually improve your product or service offerings. You must be have goals and take action, Self-discipline is the cornerstone from which the other six habits evolve. Without self-discipline, it is difficult to be successful. With a franchise you will get a head start and learn from others who have gone before and followed a successful system. It won’t be easy, but it will take a lot of pressure off you and allow you higher probability of success than going it alone. The odds are hundreds of times better than getting into the NFL!
